good discussions turn to bad discussions when people start talking with emotion instead of logic. if we wanted an emotional battle, we would watch soaps and degrassi while reading the national enquirer and star magazine. turning an argument into an emotional battle is what high skoolers do and well... hopefully we all came from there, but then again, regressing back to those day is humorous at best like in the movie old skool. REGARDING HIS INTENT TO KILL: He only said "i'll kill them" in response to the dikchead on the phone saying "you'll get killed, they'll shoot you". or some bullshit like that.  He was calling the police for help, and he wanted help quickly.  IF he was intending to be a vigilante, he wouldn't have called the police in the first place.

 Oh and by the way,  he shot them on his property, his front lawn, he ordered them to stop, (as recordered on the phone call)  they didn't, and he shot one of them in the front, and the other one got it in the back, when he made the decision to shoot both of them, because they were a group and approaching him. (as described by a police officer witness). Sorry he didn't have an automatic and the other guy got the chance to turn around while the first one was getting it.
