Ouch man, that doesn't sound good. Subframe good? You should've been used to gravel after Saturday!

I think it's fine. Yeah, you would think I'd be used to gravel...

    Hippeis:

    Glad you are ok.

I've witness the same exact scenario and sounds like the same location.

Now could it have been prevented?

Though I was not there I am certain I can make a couple of statements or thoughts about how it may have been avoided.

What lesson have you learned from this. Any light you shed I'm sure will help out other riders.

Great question.  It definitely could have been avoided, by me providing more distance between myself and the rider in front of me.  Had I not been so close to him, when he slowed down I wouldn't have had to run wide, so I wouldn't have hit the gravel in the first place.

Dang man. I just got done riding with you 2 on Sat.

One blows a motor, the other drops his bike. Sucks to hear about this stuff. Look at the positive side, at least you did't blow a motor or wreck the bike 200-250 miles away in WV.

I thought about joining you 2 on sunday but I went out with Pyro around the Quantico loop and other local roads.

Good to hear some crash analysis.  it does help others out and hopefully avoid other accidents. Yes

I am glad that your graveltime did not turn out that badly.

Exactly, that would have really sucked.  That wait for the tow truck would have been a loooong one.

I was rockin' a JR textile jacket, jeans and Timbs.  Had I been wearing leather I would have bounced right back and avoided the road rash, so I'm shopping around for either a 1-pc or 2-pc get-up now.

Yeah man, sorry you found out the hard way how bad them textile jackets work when involved with pavement. I have a one piece and a 2 piece. I also have separate back protector and chin/knee protector so when I'm in jeans and always SIDI boots. After analyzing my gear after every crash I realized that without them items on I would have either have parts thru my legs or holes on my knees.

Very simple: always leather, ALWAYS! (including gloves), knee protection and riding boots. I know it cost more but once is spent you won't even miss it because it went to a priceless cause. Yes

I gotta find me a back protector and chin/knee protection (for those jean days). My leather jacket, gloves, and SIDI boots are a must have!!!! When I wrecked a few years ago in a textile jacket, it did it's job, but the jacket was DONE afterwards. Soon after I got me a leather, and will never ever purchase a textile.

Which reminds me, I have a "brand new" joe rocket textile 4 sale....meteor I believe, if anyone is looking for something on the low. MAKE ME AN OFFER!! It's about 2 years old, I've only ridden in it ONCE, so it's practically brand new.
