    9-11 Commemorative Rattle the Runway ride- Sunday Sept 14th

    http://www.rattletherunwayride.com/

    I did this ride last year with my uncle and had a really good time.  There were a few thousand bikes there. Of only a hand full of them are sportsbikes and your only going like 10 mph the whole way.  But it's was a pretty cool experience.  Unfortunatley I'll be out of town next weekend so I can't do it this year.  But I figured I would post it up for anybody who is interested.

    2008 EVENT INFO

         This year's event will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2008.  Again this year, we will be staging in the rear of the National Air and Space Museum - Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center for our opening ceremonies.

         After a police-escorted ride from Dulles Airport down to the Pentagon, closing ceremonies will take place in the South Parking Lot at the Pentagon off of Boundary Channel Drive so that we are able to visit the actual, long-awaited Pentagon Memorial as part of the closing ceremonies.

         Motorcycle staging at the Opening Ceremonies location at the  National Air and Space Museum - Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center will take place from 8:00am to 10:45am. The actual Opening Ceremonies will start at 9:00am.

         From VA State Route 28, exit at the Air and Space Museum Parkway to a right turn at GATE 317.  Once on Dulles Airport grounds, follow Police directions to the staging area.  Click here for a map.

         In addition, our friends at Devil Dawg Custom Cycles will open early (6:00am) and offer Starbucks coffee and bagels.  From there, a Police-escorted ride will leave at 8:00am for the airport staging area.

         This is an event open to all motorcyclists, and all makes and models of motorcycles are welcome.  You do NOT need to register; just show up!

         Our event will take place on the Sunday after September 11th due to several logistical reasons:

    • More people are able to attend during a weekend;

    • The South Parking Lot of the Pentagon would not be available for our use during a weekday;

    • The VA State Police would not allow for any road closures for our escorted ride during a weekday.

    This was the first big ride I did two years ago and will be going out again this year. It definitely is a good time.

    Yea we need some representatives from the sports bike scene.  I wish I could do it this year.  I really want to go check out the new memorial they built.

    The low speeds do suck, but, it's fun rolling the throttle in front of the airport and just making a bunch of noise with thousands of other people. I've got my Steibel Nautilus horn this year and some Two Brothers M5 cans on the bike. The only thing that sucks is the forecast, we might be getting some rain on Sunday.
