    Hello from Middle River!

Hi! My name is Sunny and I have an addiction/illness. Some here may know what it is and understand how I feel. It is known, to me and hundreds of others, as Motorcyclitis. My cohort in my adventures is Tyke a 2006 Ninja 250. We have been on a few Maryland adventures which you can check out here.. www.bikerworlds.com/liltyke

I am a friendly and out going person who is looking for some new friends and new roads. I recently moved here to MD from Northern California. Yes yes stupid I know. why would anyone do that?? Well my boyfriend (of 9 years), his dad, isn't doing to well and as he couldn't move to CA so we moved out to him. Of course I didn't realize that the mountains were so far away! well that taught me!

Anway here's looking forward to meet you!

    Sunny

    Re: Hello from Middle River!

Hey Sunny!  Welcome to the world of what we call '.com'!  Make sure you check out the group ride section and have someone show you some mountains.  You'll hear things about "North Beach".  it's worth a go but they hit water every single time.  I highly recommend going west :-)  you might have to travel a bit to get to a meet spot before you actually go on the ride.

You'll also read some crazy lingos that you've never ever heard before.... just skim past it and if you really want to know what the people are talking about you can question what they are saying.

A group meets on Mondays for ice cream near arundel mills mall -- its not *too* far from you.  some others meet on wednesdays and some other others meet on thursdays.  these are in 'social gatherings' section.  people ride to the event but don't actually go on rides from the meet spots.  it's a nice way to meet people.

Not all rides that happen with the members of .com are posted.  It's nice to hit up a few social gatherings to get to know some people and ride with people you get to know.

We'll have you hitting the track on the 250 in no time flat!  That's what the Track Days and Racing section is for :-)

fyi to everyone ... my friend mandi (a nonrider) found Sunny roaming around middle river without any riding friends and said 'jtb.. hook her up with some people to ride with!'  so here she is!

    Hi Sunny,

I'm a NoCal transplant as well (sunnyvale). You'll find the riding much different here. They have a skyline drive here..but it's in VA. There are a few good roads around here though. Just depends on what kind of riding you're into.

I'm in Parkville, not too far from you. Let me know if you want to ride down to a social gathering or whatever.

    Lastly, Welcome to .com

    But that's just my opinion.

    Hey Jenn!

Amazingly enough I am very familiar with forums. My old home (Southbayriders.com) was set up in a very similiar fashion. So that is the easy part but thanks for the explianations. I would hate to bumble through things.

I was trying to hit some local gatherings but they don't seem to advertise much that I can see soooo I am figuring I would have to travel for that and ride starts. Nothing new there really.

As for the track... You know I have yet to do that... Yet being the operative word. I have a zip together leather suit, no real boots though... It is a shame as i should have gone out in CA as they have T-hill (Thunder Hill) And Buttonwillow which are awesome tracks! But I could never quiet afford it there.

So when we goin ridin huh?? Big Smile

    Re: Hello from Middle River!

Awww Skyline Hwy 35... Sigh.... I lived in San Jose then Saratoga for about a year. Best year of my life! Highway nine just 5 minutes from my house! It was sweet! Then of course you have Mines Road and Highway 1 not twisty but certainly scenic .... Sigh... Well I will survive! I hope.. Can one die from lack of twisties?? I know of the cure..but is there like a pill for that? Smile

And the riding here is soooo different. Not the fundamentals of course but the roads and the roads people consider twisties! Another thing that annoyed me just today was the lack of lane splitting. I would be a happy camper if they would just let me shimmy up to the front of the line at stop lights but nooo no can't do that. I don't like sharing my autograph with the police department.

I don't know of any social gatherings that go on in the area. I heard rumor of a bike night  / get together on Friday Nights in Towson but where I couldn't say... I know a lot of friends gather on Friday night at the Avenue of Whitemarsh but I am not sure of about showing up and saying... "Hey! I see you have a bike! I have one too! Yep! Two wheels and handle bars! Lets ride!" I can just imagine the weird looks... Confused

Some of my ex coworkers knew that guy who was on the loose in the woods and then kidnapped his GF and her mother and it ended him getting shot on the sofa by special forces. Indifferent Remember that? Everyone around there knew him.

    Re: Hello from Middle River!

Really!? I have seen a lot of bikers, cruisers and sport types, but just in passing. It would not surprise me if you saw me abouts. I am rather distinguished on the blue Kawasaki. I haven't seen to many blue 250s in our area. A lot of gixers though! And a few busa's!

Where do they meet in the area? The Wawa on Rossville and 40? I heard mention of that when I was brave enough to ask some folks if they knew of some roads. But they didn't tell me when they were starting.
